Museum
Natural History Museum
Amongst the things to see in this museum are an archaeological excavation (or «dig»), dinosaurs as they appeared when they used to live in the area surrounding what is now Aix and a room full of prehistoric men and the tools they used at the time. Added enjoyment for children comes in the form of treasure-hunt type trails, one for 4-7 year olds and one for 8-12 year olds. Apart from visiting the museum itself, there are educational workshops linked to the prehistoric era, natural history etc. These take place every Wednesday and Saturday in term-time and every day in the school holidays. The workshops are based on themes that cannot fail to attract your little darlings: Provencal dinosaurs, human and animal skeletons, prehistoric art etc. etc. So not only do you get to leave the apple of your eye in good hands while you do a bit of window-shopping in peace, s/he gets to visit bits of the museum that are closely related to the theme for the day and to work, think and find stuff out whilst having fun at the same time.
