At the top of the hill, overlooking the town. If you take the guided tour, you will learn all there is to know (or most of it anyway) about the life of Avignon pope Benoit XIII, from an enthusiastic guide whose enthusiasm is catching! Don’t miss a stroll in the castle gardens on the hillside. There’s a small car-park at the foot of the castle, but we recommend you walk up! Look out for the "Vierge dorée" («Golden Virgin Mary»), put up to protect the people of Châteaurenard.
