Lipizzan stud farm
The Lippizan horse is a white show horse, used at the Spanish Riding School of Vienna. The Philipp family has about 130 Lipizzan horses on its stud farm and every day their work includes breaking-in the young horses. This is a great outdoor trip for your family as some 100 of the mares are out in the fields. There is a picnic area next to the outdoor school, so you can watch the family at work. If you would like to see them working (it really is quite spectacular), the best thing to do is phone the Philipp brothers, who will be able to tell you just when to get there: try and go in May or June if you can, because that’s when you’ll be able to see the foals take their first steps or even gallop!
