A big village that has managed to remain quiet and unspoilt...out of season! Capital of the Camargue, les Saintes Maries de la Mer is a great place for the family to walk, cycle or ride: it’s in the country, it’s safe and it’s.........flat!

We really liked this place, it’s great for a walk with the family, whether you’re in a pushchair or on foot! Various paths trough the marshes let you get close to lots of birds: flamingoes, storks, falcons, herons, eagles, all sorts of ducks… What you see depends on the season, for example you’ll see the greatest number of flamingoes at the end of March/beginning of April. Our advice: go either in the morning or towards the end of the afternoon, it won’t be so hot for one thing and for another, it’s the time when there’s the most happening. Take your binoculars and camera and have a great time!
