Salon de Provence

Salon de Provence is the perfect base for visiting Provence: half an hour from the Luberon, the Alpilles, Avignon, Aix en Provence, the Camargue and the ‘calanques’ (creeks). Nice starting point for walks and bike-rides too.

Soap factory, museum and shop. Guided tours of the factory, where the whole history of soap-making is explained. You learn a lot and as a rule children are both fascinated and impressed by the big cauldrons the mixture is poured into. Careful, make sure you keep an eye on the children so they don’t touch anything! The museum is interesting too: details about soap manufacture, tools used until now, etc. There’s a 10 minute film of the factory too, for anyone who misses the guided tour. And finally, in the shops you’ll find Marius Fabre soaps and cosmetics. Guided factory tours are on Mondays and Thursdays at 10.30am (lasts about half-an-hour). Free for children under 15.
