The building of an irrigation system was the start of vegetable-growing in Châteaurenard, for which the area has since become famous. 6 days of traditional festivities with parades of horses, Camargue races, abrivados etc., crowned on the Sunday with the famous Madeleine float and its 60 horses, the float itself overflowing with the most beautiful local fruit and vegetables...

Fontvieille festivities last over a week: starting on the Friday evening with the traditional St. Peter’s day village fête, involving boules competitions, Camargue bull races, old-fashioned children’s games etc. it then turns into an Alphonse Daudet festival, with "son et lumière" at Daudet’s famous windmill.
